True Believer with Kristen Irving
In this episode we are joined by the filmmaker of the new power-house documentary, True Believer, Kristen Irving. You might have noticed we’ve spoken with several filmmakers recently. All have released documentaries focused on White Christian Nationalism. They are all fabulous. But, folks, as Lisa mentioned, "True Believer hit me in a place I didn’t even know I had. As the credits rolled, I wept like a baby." True Believer is an intimate story of healing within and between a daughter and her mother, as they examine the impacts of their years inside a White Christian Nationalist church. #POWERFUL And in the interest of transparency, Lisa is in it. Such an honor.

Truth-Listening
The act of centering stories and voices previously silenced, moved to the margins, or removed from the community. The act of truth-listening is an act of narrative reconciliation and healing.
Truth-listening is itself an act of healing relationships between marginalized people and the structures, systems, and powers that previously failed to honor the image of God in them.
Voice is a critical component of human dignity. Truth-listening affirms the voices of the previously silenced.
But how do we learn to practice truth-listening?
We have a public-memory document available in the Bible, and there are multiple stories where we see truth-listening at work. Come along as we delve into examples of truth-listening in scripture and then discuss how we can move that into our contexts.
Truth-listening is a concept from Lisa Sharon Harper’s book Fortune: How Race Broke my Family and the World—and How to Repair it All. Join us on this exclusive subscribers-only webinar, and let’s unpack what this sacred practice can do for our world.
