Last week to register for the Very Good Gospel course at St. Stephen's University!
Don't miss this opportunity!
Dear Friends,
There is one more week to register for the Very Good Gospel course at St. Stephen’s University.
You don’t have to be an SSU student to take the course for credit or to audit.
Over just the past week, I’ve heard from several people who have reflected to me how grateful they are for The Very Good Gospel right now. They say it’s helping them to understand what’s happening in our world and how to respond from a deeply rooted place in our faith.
Join me this summer. Take the opportunity to gear up for our rising authoritarian context by considering *shalom* and its implications for you and our world, this summer.
Upon completion, students will be able to:
• communicate a comprehensive vision of shalom within their context.
• recognize and articulate the difference between “the antebellum gospel” and the good news of shalom.
• discern and express a message that taps into the heart-cry of their community, city, state, or era.
• understand practice of shalom-building within various spheres of influence, including: shalom with God, self, between genders, within families, between ethnic groups, between nations, between life and death.

I hope to see you in class!

The Narrative Gap, as coined by Lisa Sharon Harper, is the distance between the stories that we tell ourselves about ourselves, including how we got here and what it will take to make things right. In our world today, competing narratives vie for our loyalty, dividing society and the church, therefore making justice impossible. Our mission is help communities shrink the narrative gap, by identifying core issues and building community capacity so they might work toward common solutions for a just world. Here on the Freedom Road Substack, we can converse together on ways to shrink that narrative gap and help ensure everyones’ stories are told.
